1~ Now it came to pass, afterward, that He went through every city and village, preaching and bringing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God. And the twelve were with Him, 2 and certain women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities—Mary called Magdalene, out of whom had come seven demons, 3 and Joanna the wife of Chuza, Herod’s steward, and Susanna, and many others who provided for Him] from their substance.
I find it both wonderful and ironic that the bible declares that Jesus had the fiscal support of women in meeting his ministry needs but never does it mention men in this regard. I am sure many did but it never says so. Peter did do a little fishing to bring in the temple tax by way of gold coin but that’s about it.
And we all know what Judas was like as ‘church treasurer’. Not a man of great support but more the conniver and miser by all accounts. Even lambasting the woman with the alabaster box of rare perfume for her waste of what he said could be used for the poor. I think one could surmise that Judas was not a true worshiper…
So kudos, applause and a big salute to the ladies both then and now for their faithfulness in giving and the many other ways they help in the furthering of His Kingdom.
